Minitüb software for electronic identification of boars.

The IDENT software can be run as a stand-alone or in combination with the IDEE laboratory
software. It allows the electronic identification of the boar and of the collector and an
automatic printout of a label for each ejaculate with the desired data and barcode. In the
laboratory, this information is transferred into the laboratory program (i.e. IDEE) via barcode
scanner. The ejaculate data and semen parameters are then automatically recorded in IDEE
via the connected devices. Modules for the automatic semen dilution and for the control of
the processing machine may be connected.
The ID numbers of the boar and the semen collector are unique. The ID of the boar is stored
on a passive microchip which is included in the boar’s ear tag. The collector’s reading
instrument contains the collector’s electronic ID. With the help of a microchip reading
antenna, these IDs are transferred to the IDENT software. The microchip signal tells the
program to create a barcode label for the ejaculate which is unique for this ejaculate. This
label is affixed to the collection bag and later on it accompanies the semen throughout the
whole production process. The opportunity to misidentify semen is thus eliminated
